We are now in a position to give a further assurance to
Mr Hawgood, following the announcement by Lord Ferrers on
23 July of a scheme whereby non-British spouses of British
citizens in Hong Kong can register the details of the marriage with the Hong Kong Immigration Department. They will then receive a letter assuring them that a later application for entry clearance will be given priority treatment in view of the information which has already been
noted.
