British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990 : Definition of "Settled in Hong Kong"
I refer to Jeremy Page's

The definition of "settled" as given in section 50 of the British Nationality Act 1981 is "being ordinarily resident in the
the United Kingdom, Ox, as the case may be, in a dependent territory without being subject under the immigration laws to any restriction on the period for which he may remain". It was agreed with the Home Office that the same definition should be
be extended to the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990, which is now enshrined in section 2(3).
the reference to Hence, "settled in Hong Kong" in paragraph 4(1) of Schedule 1 to the 1990 Act should be construed accordingly.
