Community Service

A

maximum of 50 points can be awarded for service, other than service arising from an official capacity, on a statutory or non-statutory board or committee approved by the Governor for the purposes of this scheme. A maximum of 50 points can also be scored for service with an auxiliary service established by the Hong Kong Government. You can score points under both heads, provided that the total does not exceed 50 points.

Boards and Committees

Service on the Legislative Council or the Executive Council will score points at the rate of 4 points a year. Service on other boards and committees will be awarded 2 points a year as members, and 4 points a year for each full year as chairman or holder of a comparable position. Points can be scored for service on up to 6 boards, and only service for the 10 years immediately before December 1, 1990 will be counted.

A full list of these boards and committees will be published in the reference manuals.

Auxiliary Service

Active service with the following auxiliary services will score points at the rate of 2 points per year :

Royal Hong Kong Regiment (The Volunteers) Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force Auxiliary Medical Services

Civil Aid Services.

Points can be scored for service on more than 1 However, no points will be awarded for service while on the reserve list.

Procedure

Applications must be submitted by registered mail or personal delivery to the British Nationality Division, Immigration Department, 7 Gloucester Road, Wanchai, by February 28, 1991.

The application forms are then examined by Immigration Officers, and points awarded for the different criteria. Information on all applicants will be entered into a specially designed computer system which will produce an initial profile showing the applicants in order of points scored, for each occupational group. These lists, which will contain no names, will be examined by the Steering
