Thank you for your letter of 4 April and I appreciate seeing a
copy of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Bill which was published last week. I am passing this on to my colleague,
Chris Hampson, who is the ICI Director responsible for our
Asia Pacific operations and, as such, he is clearly very
interested in this Bill. When we have had time to examine it in
detail we will certainly come back to you if it seems appropriate
to take up the offer of a further discussion. We fully appreciate
the problems that the Bill is facing and the need for whatever
