Problem
223
1. The Home Secretary's minute of 27 March to the Prime Minister
seeks our views on:
(a) Whether recipients of British citizenship under the nationality package should lose their BDTC status;
(b) His proposals to reinstate journalists and news editors and
health associate professionals.
Recommendation
2.
I submit a draft reply.
Background
3. As presently drafted Clause 2(2) of the Bill provides that those who receive British citizenship under the Scheme will logse
BDTC status. The purpose of this provision is to ensure consistency
in what we said in the UK Memorandum associated with the Joint
Declaration.
