"Social Work
Professionals" are one of the prime
targets
for immigration to Canada. Emigration statistics
show that over the past 3 years, they have been emigrating
at a rate of about 3.4%. The 1990 "Social Work Manpower
Planning
System" Report shows an overall wastage rate of
198. In the civil service the wastage rate of 16.5% for
social work officers in 1988/89 is well above the civil
service average of around 6%, and a marked increase over
the 11.6% wastage rate in 1987/88.
