secondee may apply under the GAS. If he succeeds, he will wish to opt for immediate registration as British

secondee as replacement, assuming that the 5 years would expire

before 1 January 1997. In other words, after 31 December 1991,

no replacement should be permitted and any vacant places in the

UKSS should be reallocated to the GAS.
