Dear Mr Tebbitt,
It was with great interest that I listened to your statement regarding the proposed immigration of British citizens from Hong Kong to England on David Dimbleby's Sunday afternoon programme.
We, the Welsh living here in West Wales [and I'm sure that I am expressing the thoughts of very many of my fellow countrymen and women] were delighted to hear you reason so strongly against
the proposed immigration of Hong Kong citizens to England.

As individuals, many of the immigrants seem to be admirable people, [like the West Indians and Indians in England] and some are making a determined effort to learn Welsh but by their sheer number they are doing great harm to culture.Whole villages and indeed vast districts have been swamped by new immigrants during the last ten years. Where a comparatively short time ago only Welsh was heard on the streets, in the workplace and on the farms, only English is now spoken and the oldest spoken language in Europe is quickly dying.

I think the time for the help that we need is long overdue. This damaging flood of settlers from England must be stopped and encouragement given to to return home to England whence they came. [The Boat People of Hong Kong are encouraged to return whence they came by monetary means).
Your recently stated views would suggest that you could be the man with enough influence to be the saviour of Welsh culture and way of life.Let the future history books name you as being the catalist who stopped whole communities in Wales from being destroyed by an alien culture and way of life.
I shall look forward eagerly to your comments regarding our immigration problems and for proposals you can put forward to help save our culture.
A copy of this letter is being sent to the Secretary of State for Wales and our local Member of Parliament, Mr Geraint Howells.
Yours sincerely,
[Arthur L1.Morris).
