Many thanks for your letter of 22 December which has just reached me here. It was good of you to reply to my comments. There is of course no need to think of anything as extreme as issuing corrections at this stage. All that is very much water under the bridge
now.
I was very sorry to hear that you are moving to Liverpool and will not be in the driving seat when the new legislation goes through Parliament. It is going to be a difficult task and I very much appreciate the courage of Ministers (and officials behind them) in taking it on. I also very much appreciate your own very positive role in trying to find a way forward. All the sadder that you will be in Liverpool rather than London. But I hope you enjoy it. There are some very good Welsh hills nearby!
