AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
We have made it clear to the Indian authorities that we regard Amnesty International as a serious and responsible organisation. Welcome Foreign Minister Gujral's parliamentary answer on 15 March that the Indian government was considering the question of permitting an Amnesty International team to visit Punjab.

During the period 1985-1989, the number of Indians detained under Prevention of Terrorism Act was 37. They are recorded by
nationality not religion.
WHAT ACTION TO STOP FUNDS GOING TO TERRORISTS IN INDIA?
The new Prevention of Terrorism Act includes provisions dealing with terrorist funding. It came into force on 22 March last year.
Fund-raising in support of terrorism abroad will be subject to investigation and prosecution (if the act of terrorism committed or to be committed abroad constitutes an offence under UK law).
