Following our approach to the Italian Government, as part of our worldwide lobbying on this issue they have promised to look at the matter sympathetically and a scheme has been passed to Ministers for consideration giving long term visas to "several hundred" employees of Italian firms in Hong Kong. If the Italian Government can
introduce such a scheme then it would be very welcome We are told that a final decision on this may take some time but the Italians may be able to give us some news now on progress.
