responsibility to say "the most important consideration here is our international obligation under the ICCPR" and then to go on to say that they do not know what that obligation is because "we know of no directly relevant decision from a competent authority". They must be prepared to take a stand. Without in any way wishing to suggest what that stand might be, if they were to conclude that the inheritance laws are consistent with the ICCPR (as they are with the BL), they could so legislate in this Bill to preclude domestic courts coming to a different conclusion.
