This Article requires that human life is to be
respected and protected. NO one can be put to death
without a legal justification. The Article controls the
use of the death penalty. It may be used only for the most
serious crimes and not against children or pregnant women.
There must be a power to commute a death sentence or pardon
someone sentenced to death, or to grant an amnesty.

Torture and degrading punishment are prohibited.

Article 4 No slavery or servitude

The slave trade and slavery in all its forms are
prohibited. So is forced labour. However same forms of
compulsory work do not count as forced labour, for example,
armed forces,
work by prisoners, members of the
conscientous objectors.
