Up to 19 June 1990, 597 applications were received under Section 4 (5). 67 of these have been granted citizenship, of

which 56 were ex-servicemen and 11 were serving or ex-crown

servants.

4. It is impossible to say how many crown servants may

benefit under section 4 (5) in the future; but the number is

likely to be very small. Similarly we cannot estimate how

many unsuccessful applicants for registration under

Section 4 (5) might succeed under the new scheme. That would

depend on whether the individuals concerned met the specific

criteria of the scheme.
