We spoke today about defensive briefing on Hong Kong issues, for my Secretary of State's visit to Washington between 29/31 January.
2. I will ring you on 25 January about the outcome of SC3. But in the meantime, I should be very grateful if you could let me have standard FCO lines-to-take and background on the Hong Kong nationality issue; the attitude of China towards the colony; and HMG's overall policy on Hong Kong in the run-up to 1997.
