NATIONALITY PACKAGE: CHINESE ATTITUDES
Thank you for your letter of 8 March about the Chinese atitude to our nationality package and in particular their statements about dual nationality and consular protection in the Hong Kong SAR after 1997.
I enclose briefing on this subject in the form of (i) Points to Make, (ii) Defensive line and (iii) Background, which covers most of the points you raise. We are preparing a comprehensive defensive line on dual nationality and consular protection which we will let you have separately.
