project comprises two major bridges, a viaduct across Ma Wan, an interchange with Route 3 on Tsing Yi, a toll plaza and approach roads on North Lantau and a comprehensive traffic control and surveillance system which extends beyond the LFC project limits into the adjoining road networks.
It is proposed that these works be packaged into five contracts as follows

Contract 1
Tsing Ma Bridge
A lump sum "construction" contract. Government's consultants to complete the detailed design of the bridge. Contractor to design outstanding ancillary
components.
Prequalification and tenders to be invited in November 1990 and February 1991 respectively.

Kap Shui Mun Bridge & Ma wan Viaduct
A Lump sum firm price "design and build" contract.
Tenderers to submit with their tenders a preliminary design of the bridge and the viaduct. The detailed design of these structures to be developed by the successful tenderer's designer for approval by Government.
Prequalification and renders will be invited in November 1990 and February 1991 respectively.
