Island Reclamation is not sufficiently wide to

provide for the volume and for safe manoeuvring

of the forecast maritime traffic. The easterly

terminals must therefore be eliminated to provide

the required channel width and this would

measurably increase the length of the submerged

tube crossing.

V.

The bridge from Argyle St to Stonecutters Island

will restrict the access to port and water

related industries along the northern Kowloon

coastline which may require reprovisioning

similar to that required for the West Kowloon

Reclamation.

vi.

The initial access to the new airport would be

more flexible as both the Green Island/Port

Island and the northern approach over the Sham Ma

Bridge could be available in the same time frame

as the opening of the new airport, however, well

in advance of traffic demand to make both

economically viable.
