PORT RELATED PROJECTS
The Port is spread over the several areas identified
by the PADS study. Within each, there are projects for private development, tying in with Government sponsored reclamation and infrastructure packages.
Stonecutters Island
Includes Container Terminal 8 and associated backup land. The development statement will also cover the adjacent part of the West Kowloon Reclamation in so far as it is to be used for backup. Provision is made for the CRA4 alignment of Route 3.
SE Tsing Yi
Includes Container Terminal 9, associated backup land Provision is made for the CRA4 and cargo-working waterfront. alignment of Route 3.
Tseung Kwan O
Two areas Tseung Kwan O West and Tit Cham Chau are designated for Multi-purposes terminals (up to 10 berths) and deep waterfront industry (120 ha) respectively. MPT development must include an access road via Lei Yue Mun to Kwun Tong,
Tuen Mun West
The
The Area 38 sub-area includes 3000m of waterfront for river trade vessels and 50ha for deep waterfront industry. Castle Peak sub-area will be developed later for 4000m of waterfront for river trade and 265ha of deep waterfront industry. At Siu Lam, a typhoon shelter is programmed for completion in
1993.
Lantau Port
The Lamma breakwater in the South Western Harbour protects the Western Harbour from ocean swells to allow cargo handling. New typhoon shelters are proposed at Hei Ling Chau and Peng Chau.
The Lantau Port Peninsula includes Container Terminals 10-14 (15 berths) and Multi-purpose Terminals 3, 4, 8 and 9 (20 berths).
includes To the north, the Tsing Chau Tsai area container port back up and general industrial areas,
areas, together with 1500m of cargo-working waterfront. The Peninsula is served by a major highway linking the port and airport to Hong Kong via a tunnel to Green Island.
