The basic guidelines for obtaining legal assistance

in the Cayman Islands are those contained in the Mutual

Legal Assistance Treaty between the United States and the

Cayman Islands, which entered into force on [

These provisions are being extended to Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat and Turks and Caicos

conditions:-

immediate contact with the local police and/or

the Attorney General upon first arrival to discuss

modalities;

that any interviews be voluntary and will be

conducted in the presence of a local law enforcement

officer;
