Ivory
The information you request is as follows
(a) 8.59 tonnes of ivory has been exported from
Hong Kong during the period of the reservation.
(b)
The Labour Department has been registering ex-carvers and ex-ivory workers since last October. As as 16 July 1990, there were 234 registrants; 154 referrals have been made. 32 persons, including 3 disabled, have been successfully placed. Out of these 32 placed workers, 9 have become Government workmen, and the remaining have found Jobs in different occupations such as metal carving, messenger, etc.
