Hong Kong will not authorise any commercial export of ivory after the reservation expires on
As you reservation expires on 17 July 1990. are aware, personal effects are exempted from CITES control; the cessation of such an authorisation will therefore not apply to personal effects.

CITES obligation, Hong Kong nevertheless put personal effects of ivory under the following controls:
the Animala and Plants (Protection of Ordinance (Cap.187 of the Laws of Hong Endangered Species) Ordinance Kong), the export of personal effects is subject to the prior issue of an export licence under that Ordinance. The export licence will only be granted when the import permission from The only the imporling countries concerned has been obtained. exemption from the requirement for an export licence is for the export of personal effects oi worked ivory not exceeding 5 kg
This exemption applies in aggregate (i.e. not per item). all personal effects irrespective of the nationality, race or residency status of the person concerned, but the ivory issue must not be for the purpose of trade or business.
