Two asterisks (**) placed against the name of a species or higher taxon indicate that one or more geographically separate populations, subspecies or species of that species or taxon are included in Appendix II and that these populations, subspecies or species are. excluded from Appendix I.
By agreement with the Chairman of the Nomenclature Committee, the Chairman of the Plants Committee and other experts, some purely editorial changes have been introduced in the revised versions of Appendices I, II and III and, where appropriate, annotations have been included in the "Interpretation".
In accordance with the provisions of Article XV, paragraph 1, sub-paragraph (c), of the Convention, the amendments adopted at che seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties will enter into force 90 days after that meeting, i.e. on 18 January 1990 for all Parties except those which make a reservation in accordance with paragraph 3 of that Article.

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 3 of Article XV of the Convention, and during the period of 90 days provided for by sub-paragraph (e) of paragraph 1 of that Article (1.e. by 18 January 1990), any Farty way by notification in writing to the Depositary Government (the Government of the Swiss Confederation) make a reservation with respect to one or more amendments adopted at the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties. Until such reservation is withdrawn the Party shall be treated as a state not a Party to the Convention with respect to trade in the species concerned. The other Parties shall then apply the provisions of Article X of the Convention to such trade.
In accordance with the provisions of Article XII, paragraph 2(1), of the Convention, the Secretariat has published an updated version of Appendices I and II to take into account the amendments adopted at the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties, and the changes in the nomenclature mentioned under item 5 above. A copy of the updated Appendices I and II as adopted by the Conference of the Parties, valid as at 18 January 1990, is attached to the present Notification.
The adoption of certain amendments to Appendices I and II resulted in the revision of Appendix III to the Convention. A copy of this updated appendix, valid also as at 18 January 1990, is attached to the present Notification.

well as the attached documents, be communicated to the competent authorities.
