Hong Kong will not export ivory to the US or any other country
which upholds the CITES ban.

Exports of raw or carved ivory will go only to countries such as
China (which has entered a reservation on the CITES ban) or
South Korea (which is not a Party to CITES)
Hong Kong issued 3 export licences, which were not used, for
exports to Japan and the FRG before the CITES ban formally came into
force on 18 January
only legally obtained, legally held ivory in possession of CITES documentation will be exported

Reservation only lasts 6 months and Hong Kong will maintain ban on
imports of ivory introduced in June 1989
