The Market Information Enquiry Service forms part of the assistance to exporters provided through the Export Initiative. covers the provision of a very wide range of advice and information to UK exporters, provided by FCO commercial staff located overseas. Charges for the Service were introduced on 1 April 1989.
2. The Export Representative Service offers a detailed report prepared by FCO commercial staff overseas on which representatives might be interested in and suitable for handling a firm's product.

The New Products from Britain service helps test market reaction to new products. Articles about the products are prepared by specialist journalists and are made available to suitable press outlets in markets in which a firm is interested.

The DTI Service Card was introduced on 1 April 1989 and is the means of paying for those DTI/FCO export services for which there is a charge. There is no charge for a card, which is available to all those involved in exporting for the UK. Card users are expected to settle their bills in full as soon as they are due. At the end of April 1990, more than 21,000 people in more than 10,000 companies held Service Cards.

"Hints to Exporters" provide detailed practical information that is valuable to businessmen planning to visit a market.
"Country Profiles" provide a description of the geography, population and other information about the country concerned.
"Sector Reports" provide detailed market research information about individual market sectors in particular countries.
