in the electronics and plastics
industries was, nevertheless,
comparatively more active.

Investment in various sub-sectors of
the textiles and clothing showed a
mixed picture. The sales of weaving
and knitting machines was poor,
indicating that investment in the
respective sub-sectors was weak. On
the other hand, suppliers of
machinery for use in the dyeing and
finishing, and cut-and-sewn garment
sub-sectors reported some increase in
sales. However, it is believed that
a sizeable proportion of the machines
sold were delivered to factories in
China rather than retained for local
use.
(iii)
As business situation in the
electronics industry was still
satisfactory, manufacturers in this
industry continued to be keen to
