Only one site of 4.4 hectares in the Yuen
Long Industrial Estates was taken up in the first
quarter (Table 6). By the end of March 1990, 96% of
the land in the Tai Po Industrial Estate and 48% of
the land in the Yuen Long Industrial Estate were
allocated.

Some qualitative information on recent
trends in capital investment in the manufacturing
industries was obtained by the Industry Department
during regular factory visits and from contacts with
manufacturers. The information, which is largely
specific in nature and probably subjective, is
summarised below :
