This series is not intended for publication.
Starting from the report for the third quarter of 1989, these data series have been revised because the method of chained index 13 used in place of the former method of unchained index to compute the unit value indices of retained imports. This represents a technical improvement because the chained index is less affected than the unchained index by changes in product mix and in the proportion of re-exports in total imports. Figures for retained imports of capital goods are, however, relatively less affected by this change.
For analytical purposes, ປ re-export margin of 15a has been assumed in deriving the retained taports figures in this table.
