Lancaster House has been booked for a dinner hosted by the Minister of State for both sides on Monday 24 September. Mr Maude's diary secretary has been notified. The dinner will be paid for by GHF.

Last year Mr McLaren hosted a working lunch during the meeting for both sides at the Oxford and Cambridge Club. We should consult Mr Galsworthy on whether he proposes to host a similar lunch on this occasion. This will also have to be paid for by the HKD entertainment budget. No.

10. In the past there have been drinks for the British delegation before the meeting. Mr Burns might wish to host this event on Friday 21 September if Hong Kong delegation arrival times make this possible. HKD would also have to pay.
Action: Submission to Mr Burns. Ms Usher to check availability of the India Office Council Chamber for venue.
11. COI have agreed to organise and pay for 11 of the Chinese delegation, Mr Galsworthy and a COI officer to go on a two or three day trip to Scotland after the meeting.
Action: We will investigate with COI what it would cost to send other members of the British team on this excursion, which would have to be paid for from HKD's entertainment/travel budget.

12. A press release is put out four days before the meeting. the past there has been a photocall session in the conference room on the first day and an unattributable "tea party" briefing on the final day.
Action: we shall consult Mr Galsworthy shortly on whether he would like similar arrangements to be made on this occasion. will then need to liaise with News Department.
