SINO-BRITISH JOINT LIAISON GROUP: PARTICIPATION OF BRITISH TEAM IN POST-MEETING EXCURSION
1. Following the annual London plenary of the Joint Liaison Group (25-28 September 1990), a short trip to Scotland is being organised for members of the British and Chinese delegations. One of the purposes of this excursion is to reciprocate the hospitality which has been extended by the Chinese when these meetings have been held in Peking.
2. We have secured funding for most of those participating in the excursion (from COI and the Hong Kong Government), leaving only Mr Doug Martin (of UKREP JLG Hong Kong) and possibly Mr Alan Paul (Head of HKD), if the latter is able to attend.
3. I spoke to Mr Brown of Home Allowances Unit this morning who agreed that it would be appropriate for the cost of Mr Martin's (and if necessary Mr Paul's) participation to be met from the existing HKD entertainment budget.
4.
I should be grateful for your confirmation of this.
