HONG KONG: MULTILATERAL TREATIES: CUSTOMS«'
1.
Hong Kong have prepared another batch of three papers to be put to the Chinese on the application of Customs Treaties to the SAR after 1997 (telnos 3247-3250 attached).
2.
We have already approved a number of very similar papers on other Customs Treaties which Hong Kong expect to hand over shortly. In view of the large number of treaties to be processed by the IRO sub-group, we have agreed that these
papers should be kept concise and to the point. I can see no difficulty with them, but should be grateful if you could let me know if there are any legal points we should raise with Hong Kong.
3. (For Ms Martin) As with the earlier papers (my minute of 12 October refers), I should be grateful for any comments you may have.
On paragraph 2(A) of telno 3247, I should be
grateful if you could advise me where to obtain these
documents, and for the answer to 2(B).
