17. Travellers arriving from an infected area need an international certificate of vaccination against yellow fever. Those suffering from tuberculosis, hepatitis, AIDS or VD are not allowed to enter China. Closer to the date of departure, information concerning any temporary health regulations in force should be obtained from the airline company.

Foreign Exchange and Banking Facilities

18. The national unit of currency is the Yuan. there is no limit on the amount of foreign currency that may be brought into China but such items must be declared upon arrival. Exchange slips for the conversion of foreign currency into Yuan should be kept since these will be required to reconvert any unused amounts back into foreign currency on departure.

Banking services will be provided on the Conference premises. At the time of going to press the US dollar was approximately 4.7339 Yuan.

Registration

20. All participants are requested to register with the Conference Secretariat as early as possible so that they can be provided with identification tags. Registration will take place at the entrance to the Conference Hall from 10.00 to 18.00 hours on Sunday 22 April 1990, and from 08.30 hours on Monday 23 April.

A provisional list of participants will be distributed at the beginning of the Conference and revised later if necessary. The Conference Secretariat should be notified of any corrections or additions.

Receptions

Delegates who wish to give a reception are requested to inform the Conference Secretary as soon as possible after their arrival so that a programme of receptions can be worked out.

Weather

A first aid service will be available on the Conference premises.

Beijing is located in the eastern part of China about 40 degrees north of the equator. The climate in April is not very cold. Medium weight clothing is recommended with some woollens for the night. Day temperatures are around 18-20°C and minimum night temperatures around 8-10°C.

Excursions and Tourist Information

25. A travel office will be open on the Conference premises to help participants reconfirm return flights and to arrange excursions or visits within China.
