Expert Consultation on Plant Quarantine in Asia and the Pacific

It is a great honour to inform you that the above FAO/APPPC Expert Consultation will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The aim of this Meeting is to harmonize the principles of plant quarantine regulations and procedures in the Asia and Pacific Region. Since the 15th, 16th Sessions and 25th, 26th, and 27th APPPC Executive Committee Meetings. many recommendations have been proposed by member countries or above mentioned subject. for strengthening the cooperation of plant quarantine in the Region. A special attention on harmonization of plant quarantine principles and procedures is needed.
The main provisional items of the Meeting are harmonization of plant quarantine principles, pest risk assessment methods, harmonization of plant quarantine procedures (including inspection and treatments, seed-healthy testing programme), quarantine database and programme of work for the Standing Committee of Plant Quarantine and its five Working Groups.
As the Meeting focuses exclusively on the regional cooperation of plant quarantine work on the national quarantine basis, we would like to invite the Director or the Chief, who are in charge of national quarantine service for participating in this important meeting. We are highly appreciated if your government would kindly recommend the name of participant of your country. If it is accepted by FAO/APPPC, an official invitation will be sent by FAO Headquarters, Rome, directly to the participant.
