telegram, Hong Kong has received a direct invitation to participate we are an associate member of ESCAP, and thus attend meetings sponsored by that body "in our own right" rather than as part of a U.K. delegation.
Our objectives, very broadly, will be to demonstrate Hong Kong's commitment to tackling all aspects of the problem of drug trafficking and abuse, and progress we have made
made in the areas Of demand reduction (education, publicity treatment and rehabilitation) and supply reduction (suppression of domestic and international drug trafficking). In regard to drug money-laundering, again we intend to show Hong Kong's commitment to meeting the require- ments of the Vienna Convention, and the FATF recom- mendations, and to encourage the adoption of similar arrangements by other participants.
