Part B Basic Law: Satisfactory Provisions
The Basic Law
reflects most of the provisions in the
JD, many word by word. Many concerns of HK people have been
taken into account during the drafting exercise.
(A)
Legal system
Art. 8 provides that :
"The
in laws previously inforce
H.K., that is, the
common law, rules of equity, ordinances, subordinate
legislation and customary law shall be maintained,
except for those that are inconsistent with this Law
OF have been amended by the legislature of the HK
SAR."
Art. 17, para. 1 provides that :-
"The HK SAR shall be vested with legislative
power."
Under these and other provisions, the rule of law
will continue in the HK SAR.
