Thank you for your letter of 24 October suggesting a redraft of the telegram to Hong Kong about HMOCS matters.
2. I have incorporated your suggested paragraphs into a revised draft, and added some further manuscript amendments of my own.

This latest fruit of our joint endeavours is enclosed and I should be grateful to know by lunchtime today if you would be content with it. You will appreciate that a statement of this kind - reflecting as it does the different emphasises of our respective departments is going to fall short of perfection from all our points of view. Nevertheless I hope you will find it an acceptable compromise.
