The fourth proposal
is to set up a Pensioners'
Welfare Fund to provide financial assistance to pensioners in
cases of genuine hardship.

The proposed fund will provide one-off grants to
meet funeral expenses, expenses for purchase of special
medical equipment or other expenses incurred by pensioners
due to prolonged sickness, natural disasters etc. Maximum
disbursement for each case will be $5,000 and the proposal is
estimated to cost about $250,000 a year. This proposal aims
to provide assistance to pensioners and is in line with good
staff management practices.
