Sir Derek March
I had not realised that Derek March had retired. How time flies!
Derek did very well here as Senior British Trade Commissioner and has a large number of contacts.
He would be very well suited to advise any of the British consortia looking for work in connection with the airport and port development plans. As you probably know, Sir Gordon Manzie has already been taken on as a consultant by the Trafalgar/Costain/Mitsui group. He has not approached me about the possibility of anything connected with the Hong Kong Government. I will certainly keep his name in mind and also ask Piers Jacobs to do the same. But his best contribution could undoubtedly be made from the UK commercial angle.
Derek has probably already been in touch with those concerned. But, just in case, why not mention his name to Christian Adams in the DTI (also Derek's successor as another very successful Senior British Trade Commissioner).
