Thank you for your letter of 16 August to Douglas Hurd about problems facing members of the Police Force in Hong Kong. You suggest that Mr Li Shu-fung and Mr C J Glover might call on Mr Hurd or myself.
As you may know, I shall be visiting Hong Kong very soon, and will have an opportunity to meet you then and listen to your various concerns. In the meantime, to take advantage of the current visit of Mr Li Shu-fung and Mr Glover to London, I have arranged for the Head of the Hong Kong Department here, Mr Alan Paul to see them and to hand over this reply. will of course report to me the matters raised at that meeting, which I look forward to pursuing with you in Hong Kong.
