Claims must be submitted to the Director of Accounting Services within six months of the journey in respect of which baggage allowance is claimed.

On final departure from Hong Kong

15. An officer is eligible for a baggage allowance for the homeward air journey from Hong Kong. The appropriate unaccompanied air baggage rate will be the lowest unaccompanied air baggage rate available from the airline concerned to his country of origin or final destination, whichever is the less. A married officer may receive 50% of the allowance in advance: a single officer may receive 25% in advance. allowances (in each direction) are as follows :-

Claims may be submitted to the director of Accounting Services up to six months before the officer is due to leave Hong Kong on the completion of his attachment.

A married officer, who has satisfactorily completed his current tour, and who is not returning for a further tour of Government service will be eligible for an allowance for transport of personal and household effects up to a maximum of 9.30 cu. metres. Payment of this allowance will be made irrespective of whether the officer or his family travels by air and is additional to any allowance payable under paragraph 15. The rate for single officer is 90% of that for married officer i.e. 8.37 cu, metres.

Sea freightage and the cost of transport from the "home" port to the officer's residence are payable. There is a limit on the rate per cubic metre for packing, crating and tansporting the personal and household effects in Hong Kong. The rate is calculated on the basis that movement is by economical means and may vary from time to time and may be ascertained from the Director of Accounting Services.

Claims for expenses may be presented to the Director of Accounting Services up to three months before the officer's departure, but must be presented within 180 days of the officer's departure from Hong Kong.
