The maximuin cost of passages for the officer and his family, as defined in Clause 10.2 above, is limited to six adult fares, on each occasion the officer and his family are granted passages.

On first appointment the officer will be provided with an economy class passage and by a route approved by the Director of Accounting Services from the United Kingdom to Hong Kong. Similar passages for the family will also be provided.

Subject to satisfactory completion of the appointment and to the regulations in force from time to time the officer will be provided with economy class passages from Hong Kong to the United Kingdom. Such passages must be taken up within one month of the cessation of the appointment.

Subject to the provisions of Civil Service Regulations an eligible member of the officer's family may be provided with a homeward passage from Hong Kong at any time during the course of the officer's appointment. When such a passage is provided, the officer is required to sign an undertaking to refund the costs if for any reason he should become ineligible to claim the passage(s).

The officer may make his own arrangements for an end-of- appointment passage but such a passage must be booked in accordance with the Civil Service Regulations on the booking of passages, and the Hong Kong Government's contribution would be limited to an amount not exceeding the cost to the Government of the standard passage for which the officer is eligible.

In on circumstances does the Hong Kong Government meet claims for refund of personal insurance charges.

"School passages" are provided to enable a child in full- time education overseas to visit his parents during part of a major school holiday at Easter. Summer or Christmas (or the equivalent in the country where the child is being educated) or a single passage to commence or cease education overseas, booked in accordance with the procedures laid down in Civil Service Regulations. 11. TRAVELLING EXPENSES IN COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

On first appointment the officer is eligible for travelling expenses for himself and his family from the place of residence to the airport or port of departure in the country from which passages are provided.

Payment at a fixed rate per road kilometre will be made for the officer who travels from his declared place of residence to the airport or port of departure by car. Otherwise, actual costs of 2nd class public transport will be reimbursed.
