CONTRACT TERMS FOR OVERSEAS INSPECTORS OF POLICE

Thank you for your letter of 7 March. We are taking action as requested. With regard to the paper of particulars we have made a few very minor additions with which we trust you will agree to make it clear to candidates that they have the choice at the outset (as well as later in the case of a contract appointee) of appointment on contract or on probation. We have also made it clear that appointment on contract means "on agreement" - in view of the wor ing of the emo on conditions of service, We trust that you will find these small amendments acceptable. We note that the initial tour has been reduced to 3 years (from the 3 years notified in your letters RP/P/FF/1(E) Vi of 14 March 1973 and the advert enclosed with PRR/PF/W of 30 January 1973)
We note your remarks about showing sterling equivalents of salaries and would hasten to mention that we have indeed been using up to date sterling equivalents for some months now in both adverts and papers of particulars. We are also aware that the falling value of the pound produces higher sterling equivalents. For this purpose we review the rate of exchange frequently.
Income Tax
We note that the rates of tax are under review. We include details of tax in our M110 version of your Memo of conditions and will be pleased to alter them as necessary when you so instruct.
We note your remarks about letters of appointment.
