The British Embassy presents their compliments to the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German Democratic
Republic and have the honour to refer to the Note Verbale
number R IV 20/1990 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
dated 31 January 1990, concerning a draft agreement on
the removal of the obligation for German Democratic
Republic passport holders and British nationals to obtain
visas for entry to the Sovereign Territory of the other
State.

Having studied the proposed agreement submitted by the
Government of the German Democratic Republic, Her
Majesty's Government propose that the abolition of visas
to facilitate travel by British nationals proceeding to
the German Democratic Republic and by German Democratic
Republic nationals proceeding to the United Kingdom of
Great Britain and Northern Ireland, be agreed as
follows:
