International acceptance of the BN (O) passport
that the Convention shall continue to apply to Hong Kong after 1997 and the Chinese will be consulted in accordance with the agreed guidelines. The PRC is also a party to the Convention.
To provide an assurance for key people whose stay in Hong Kong is essential to the continued prosperity and stability of Hong Kong.
At the Policy Debate on 9 November 1988, the Senior Member of Leg Co requested HKG to make a representation to HMG in support of the granting British citizenship to wives and widows of ex-servicemen.
To ensure international acceptance of the BN (0) passport as a normal British passport issued by HMG.
Details of UK nationality package to go to Parliament around Easter.

No country has indicated that it will not recognize the BN (O) passport. Local press has lost interest. Suggest deletion in next return.
