Hong Kong and the Media
I have recently become involved in a review being carried out by the Hong Kong Government Think Tank' (The Central Policy Unit) into how the HKG deals with the media. They seem to realise that they are getting it wrong (Boat People, PADS etc). It would be a great help to me, if I could have a copy by bag of Christopher Meyer's Harvard paper on Government and the Media and a copy of the latest PUS circular on the role of the News Department in the FCO. The latter is certainly classified.
I mentioned this exercise to Alan Paul last week and we agreed that we should give HKG all the help we can. Perhaps you would copy this fax up to John Morris in HKD. I will let you both know how
