Dear Mr Garvey,
UK/HK Scholarships 1989-90
Thank you for your letter of 9 March regarding the above scheme.
I enclose as requested details of the expenditure of the scheme for 1989-90 at the Annex. I should be grateful if you would arrange payment of your £40,000 contribution to us before the close of this financial year. The split of the expenditure between the various sources of contribution is summarized as below
-
(a) Total expenditure £150,645;
(b) 50 : 50 split between UK and HK contribution

from the Royal Hong Kong Jockey
Club £75,322.50;
Contribution from FCOSAS £40,000 and
Contribution from the Sir S K Tang Bequest £35,322.50.
As regards (c) above, the Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club is being asked to arrange for the reimbursement of £75,322.50.
As regards (e) above, we will arrange to deduct £35,322.50 from the Sir S K Tang donation which has been held on one month bank deposit here.
