This group of 9 were relatives. The boatmaster's cousin was an ECVII of Group III who had visited them before Ching Ming Festival in S.VN. Having stayed together for two days, the ECVII promised to lead them to China by land. On 1-4-90, this group of 10 left HO CHI MINH by train and came to HA NOI on 3-4-90. After 2 overnight rests at HA NOI and TIEN YEN, they subsequently reached HAI NINH. During their 10-day stopover, they heard that the VN officials would not allow the South Vietnamese to cross the Sino-Vietnamese border. Hence, they hired a small boat to convey them to FANG CHENG NAT ) of China on 15-4-90. of them stayed at their relative's home awaiting chance for onwards exodus. Two days later, the boatmaster and the ECVII went to SHA JING # ) of GUANG DONG (7 ) by bus in order to search a suitable escape boat while the rest of them waited at FANG CHENG. At last, they managed to purchase a Chinese motorized boat at a cost of one tael of gold. Then, they went back to FANG CHENG and led the rest of them to SHA JING

by bus via ZHAN JIANG (L ) on 24-4-90. Shortly before their departure on 25-4-90, they met a Vietnamese (Group II) who asked for joint voyage. Consequently, Group II was admitted on board and eventually they arrived in Hong Kong on 27-4-90 after a stopover at an unknown island.

in UK so as to apply for family re-union. However, there was no concrete result and he preferred to come to Hong Kong where he thought he would have a better chance. Therefore, he visited his brother-in-law at BAO AN XIAN (

) and sought assistance for onwards escape to Hong Kong. Finally, he encounterred Group I at SHA JING (

) and was allowed for joint voyage. From then on, he shared the same itinerary with Group I until his arrival in Hong Kong on 27-4-90.
