Group I

Boatmaster : PHUNG CAM MINH

This group of 22 set off on 24-3-90. They left HO CHI MINH CITY by train and made brief stops at HA NOI, HAI PHONG and MONG GAI. They then spread into small groups for easy travel to DONG XING

). With a night's rest, they travelled to FENG CHENG (3

) where they stayed with their relatives in HUA SHI FARM (4) and NA QIN HUA QIAO FARM). Group II, who was a relative of PHUNG VAN THO, joined the exodus when he was made known of the plan. The combined group continued their journey under the escort of C/M (e) and (2) at a cost of RMB $200. They set off on 18-4-90 and reached QUANG DONG DOUMEN HONQI FARM (til!? MO ) two days later. It was in the farm where group III requested to join them to Hong Kong. A sailing junk was bought from the local at a price of RMB $9,000. The transaction was arranged by C/M WONG Yuk-sang (1) who was a friend of the boatmaster. The wooden junk, measured by 11m x 3m, was installed with a 6H.P. and a 12 H.P. engines. They set sail on 21-4-90 and reached Macao on the following day. All of them were forced to remain as the weather turned bad and their junk was not seaworthy. On 26-4-90, they were allowed to depart by another junk provided by Macao authority and reached Hong Kong waters in the afternoon.

Subject was born in HAI NINH. He migrated to China 1979 and settled at QUANGXI HE PU XIAN TIAN TANG FARM(西浦縣天堂林場 ). In 1981, his family was granted permission to stay in HE PU XIAN CHI JIANG HUA QIAO PORCELAIN FARM (on biz t 1 B & Jok). In March this year, he went to QUANGDONG DOUMEN HONQI FARM( 東斗门红旗農場 ) to look for a chance to Hong Kong. It was
