These 11 VBP left HO CHI MINH, S.VN. in five small groups in January. They first went to HONG GAI via HA NOI by bus. On 25-1-90, they met a Chinese courier who took them from MONG CAI to DONG XING (ER ), CHINA. Each one paid RMB $3 to the Vietnamese official, and RMB $2 to the Chinese officials at the border. They were then taken to a hostel at DONG XING (KAR 興華僑服 54 L ). They spent the Chinese New Year there and met Group II during their stay. The two groups amalgamated and were approached by two Chinese couriers named 'SANG' (PJ £ ) and 'CHI' (inj t ). They promised to take these 14 VBP to Hong Kong and charged each of them 0.3 to 0.4 tael of gold. 26-2-90, the party began their journey. Two days later, they reached TAI PING
