Group I

Originally, this group was composed of eleven persons. They fled HO CHI MINH CITY, S.VN on 22-2-90 and reached HA NOI by train three days later. Due to the very cold weather, six of them decided to give up the escape and returned to HO CHI MINH. The remaining five came to HAI PHONG by bus on 27-2-90 and stayed for two days. On 3-3-90, they arrived at HONG GAI where they stopped over-night to look for onward facilities. They called at HAI NINH on 4-3-90 and immediately crossed the Sino-Vietnamese border via foot paths. They managed to locate their friend (Address:
KEJ 57 5) and stayed at his house for another
8 days. During their stay, they were introduced to a courier called 'QUYEN te ). The said courier charged each of them RMB $1,300 for the arrangement of their exodus from China to Hong Kong. They were then accompanied by 'QUYEN' and went to QINZHOU (
) on 12-3-90. There, they met two persons (i.e. Group II) left QINZHOU on 16-3-90 under the escort of 'QUYEN'.

Group II

The two persons departed HO CHI MINH CITY, S.VN on 15-2-90 by ferry. They arrived at HAI PHONG after a 3-day voyage and rested over-night. On 20-2-90,, they came to HAI NINH via HONG GAI and crossed the Sino- Vietnamese border until they touched DONG XING (12 ). There, they encountered a Chinese male who led them to QIN ZHOU ( 1 ) on 21-2-90. Upon payment of RMB $4,000, they were allowed to stayed pending the arrangement of their onward trip. On 12-3-90, they met Group I and from then on, they travelled together with them until their arrival Hong Kong on 18-3-90.
